ERIC WHITACRE

oh my goodness, Eric Whitacre is my IDOL. he was totally over the top when he came to Markham on thurs, and i sat in awe throughout the concert last night. not to mention he is really hot.
well... it all started with an EXTREMELY band filled day...
band in the morning, was alot of fun, especially because we're starting to sound like an actual band, i think i had those band chills the entire time. i know its really band geeky, but i've waited 2 years for this, and now its so much sweeter, to be part of wind symphony and have challenging music. for the first time in my life, music is relatively challenging. in grade 9 and 10, i was the kid who'd rather sit in the audience and listen to the wind symphony than be back stage sitting around, and now, i'm finally a part of it... its great. so much fun.
then math... MY MARK IS NOW 71% that's right, for the first time since grade 9, i am achieving provincial standard in math. i am proud of myself.
then band with Eric Whitacre. i was expecting an old guy, even though i had heard rumours that he was young... but then, he was not old. he was young and hot... and the HAIR. oh the HAIR. lol its funny that we're all so obsessed with the hair.
anywhoo... he listened, advised and conducted us for more than an hour. it was great, we improved so much more on godzilla in that one hour than any other. he actually made me like cloudburst too... all from a guy who wasn't musical until he was 18... geez, we have a genius on our hands.
after that... didn't go to the last 20 mins fo french, which was probably all for the better becuase we had a pop quiz on what i fell asleep through last class (man was i sick on tuesday, i just about died.. well not literally, but you get the picture), instead i hung out with 1st lunch people, it was fun.
then after a nothing filled rest of the day, we had Jazz, which included a mass Jivers liscence, where my stoopid trumpet section(mmbb, not cssm) was almost 2 beats behind, gotta whip those guys into shape for concert. but the best part of jazz was that mr Thomas realized that we had played already for like 2 or 3 hours that day, so we had a really light practice.
then, Carolyn, anna and i went to Katie's skating show. it was really cool, i could never skate like that (which is pretty funy considering the show was at the arena i practically lived at when i was in York region skating academy, back in the days when i was a good skater). we had fun waiting for katie too acting out godzilla and cloudburst... oh all the fun you can have with a digital camera.
then friday was a PA day, so i slept until 11, and went to claires house until it was time to go to school for the Eric whitacre concert. we warmed up and loaded the busses, it was a squishy ride over, then we got to the Toronto centre for the performing arts (soooo pretty), and met soem pretty cool peopel from aurora and generally goofed off, as usual. got to, or shoudl i say HAD to share some personal space with josh, dave and danny while waiting to perform... we played the best yet, and recieved a standing ovation for Godzilla, it was an AMAZING experience. we then got to oggle a eric whitacre from the balcony (luckily we got seats behind the band, so we could oggle at the front of him) i now have videos of Noisy Wheels of Joy and some other song in Latin... Ghost train was Amazing though, i REALLY want to play it. ha ha he even gave us props up in the balcony on his way out. he's so cool.

well... today i did absolutely nothing, i got dressed at like 4. my dad got a new DVD player that plays JPEG images, so i got to watch all my europe pics on the TV. it was kinda cool, bad resolution though. oh well... i need a day off.

You know, for a giftee you're a real rambler!
The only time I ever got to sound like a band was when I was playing with the "Folk Ensemble"... hehe... and even then we had our moments of total improv where everyone got lost... we usually managed to stay together tho!
MOSAIC!
