ITALY in review
YAY Italy... i had SO MUCH FUN... oh all the adventures!!!
ha ha i will be evil and storm you with the nasty little details of my trip just to piss you off... but it will be good for me to keep me awake.
Day 1/2-becuase they really became one day... Toronto, Milan, Cremora, Padova
i got up as normal and went to school, had a latin test(which i don't think i did very well on cus i didn't study), and a french assignment on perfume...??? then we went to the airport!!! yay... we checked our luggage and then went to stare at this cool water thingy with blocks. then we waited for our plane.
ON the plane, i sat with carolyn... YAY. it was fun, except i barely slept.
We landed, collected our luggage (Cat didn't get hers!!! =(...) and then drove to the a duomo(5th biggest in the world or something)... interesting... climbed stairs and looked at all of Milan and gargoyles.
Drove to Cremora to get lunch... yumm italian pizza and FANTA
no time to go to Stradivarious museum... boohoo... that would have been interesting
drove to Padova and the hotel Ibis, ate dinner (mmm... mato mato... bleh)
snatch then bed

Day 3- Venice
breakfast-ok-my yogurt attacked me!!
walked around Venice... REALLY COOL
yum more italian pizza... ha ha we wanted a little sidestreet restaurant so it wasn't touristed, and we ended up in a pizza place where all the waitresses were asian... kinda funny
Gugenheim museum was really cool. left our mark in the olive tree
Gondola was so much fun... then we went shopping and got really cool marshmallow strips and glass etc. ITALIANS ARE OBSESSED with the human anatomy.... enough said
dinner was really good... live entertainment and good food
Snatch again back at the hotel and Team Discovery Channel was formed (me and Dave Ross)
~~~
Day 4- Pisa to Lucca
Drove up through the mountains and down to the other side into Pisa. We stopped on the way and almost everyone got Fanta.... everyone loves it!!! even to the point that Bryan and Dave were licking a bottle... uhhh... ok then.
got to Pisa and saw the duomo there and the baptista. there was this one column that was red and it was supposed to mean that you would be safe with your significant other for the day... at that point rebecca asked me to be her significant other... it was funny
Baptista was cool i was the unfortunate recipient of an auda and bryan sandwich.
tried to go up the tower, couldn't so ivan, amanda and josh and i went to get lunch. YUM i had the best lasagna i had ever had in my life. mmm gelato. then we went shopping.
READ THIS if you haven't been really reading(which i know you haven't). Alicia went to take a picture of me and ivan and she was holding a cup of gelato, and she went to use both hands, and so she tipped her gelato as she was focusing and it spilled all over her coat. Ivan and i saw it just as she was taking the picture and we both burst out laughing, and ended up rolling around on the floor laughing becuase it was so funny. HA HA another Alicia moment.
then we went into the Duomo and Tamara and i spent the entire time looking at the cieling translating the latin on the ceiling.
then we went to Lucca and the youth hostel- big rooms. i like hostels.
we had dinner and the accidently gave us wine instead of water and the teachers got really mad. we then had potato eating contests. barf.
we then had our concert and only like 5 ppl came. good thing cus i screwed up really badly on my trumpet ensemble part (as i always do).
then Team Discovery Channel rocked again at snatch.
i was really tired so i fell asleep before many ppl on my room, but apparently (and i have no recollection of this) i was yelling at Ali. "shut up Ali!!!" i dunno.
~~~
Day 5- Balogna and Lucca
today we had our concert at a school in Balogna. the kids were cute but they didn't really pay attention.
we had lunch in Balogna which was good... and there was this HILARIOUS fountain. there was a woman on every corner of the fountain who was holding her chestular region and water was coming out of them!!
we then got a walking tour of Lucca which was pretty cool becuase it was so untouristed that it wasn't corrupted by north american culture like other places.
the we biked along the walls, and got lost and a guy found us and pointed us in the right direction.
then dinner, and then we had free time. they straightened mrs marlatts and jordan and julie's hair... it looked good (in some cases)
then Anaita and i whippped Mr T and everyone at snatch.
~~~
Day 6- Firenze(florence)
we got a guided tour... yay more churches
then ali, alex, alicia, carolyn and i had lunch, and then we were shopping, and we found someone who spoke english to ask where we could get a bank to get money, we were saved.
then gelato, and i thoguht we should turn onto a less busy street to walk in the same direction, and lo and behold on the less busy street was a bank machine that accepted our cards!!!
back to Piazza de Santa Croche (Santa's Crotch according to Bryan)
drove to Siena and saw some freaky thumb and head of a saint in a church, then walked up some more hills to see some more churches, and the governmental squarey thingy.
Drove to Murlo and our hotel. yay ice cream bars for dessert.
Team Discovery Channel Whooped Ass.
~~~
Day 7- To Rome
We had a 4 hour bus ride to Rome, but we stopped in Orvieto for lunch. We had Brouschetta for lunch, it was REALLY good! i had a cool Fanta it was brown or something, but it was a tast i can't describe.
when we got to rome we did a driving/walking tour.
then we went to the hotel and our room actually had a bathtub!!
borrowed Dave's silent brass and practiced (shows what a band geek i am, but i don't care)
Played ultimate frisbee after dinner, it was fun.
Then- THE SPANISH INQUISITION
so, carolyn, ali, alicia, amanda, becca, nicole, devon, alex and i were in ali and alicia's room (which i was originally supposed to be in) playing cards and talking when someone knocks on tthe door. it was these spanish guys who were trying to get into our room. we tried to push them out. after a while we got the door closed and then they were on the balcony!! Then tehre was another knock at the door, and Nicole's like "do you like standing out there" and the person answered back "i guess" and then she;s like "becuase you;re going to stay out there all night!" and he's like " i just want to return the calling card. it was Andrew Innes, and so we opened the door and pulled him in, and when we did this, the spanish boys started pouring in from around the corner, and once again tey were in the doorway. they were telling us they were healthy boys and they asked if we wanted to fuck.... ahem... no. so then Ali went up to them and yelled in their faces "your cigarette Smells like SHIT!!!" it was really funny. then i noticed that we had to be in our rooms in 5 mins, so i was like "i need to go"(to the boys) so Alex and carolyn and i left, but one guy kissed Alex on the cheek when we left. we went downstairs and ran into Shaun and he went up and dealt with them, and by that point all of the teachers came running up the stairs, and we told them what happened, and they went up to deal with it.
what a night
carolyn, alex, julie and i sat in our room for like an hour just sitting there shocked and almost in tears. julie kept saying "i feel bad becuase while you guys were fearing for your lives, i was downstairs laughing." and i just thought to myself, "NO, you didn't want to be there. i know you want to becuase no one is going to ask you for the story, they'll ask us, and you just want to be a part of it, but BELIEVE me you don't so just shut up and go to bed or soemthing." thats right... i don;t reeally like Julie, and she wouldn't shut up about how she felt so bad. man i was so mad becasue we really didn't need her telling us how she wished she was there... i was thinking "for once the attention is not on you, it has nothing to do with you and you can't add anything so shut up and go away!!" eventually she did, but we were sitting there for like an hour just hugging and sitting quietly. it was really scary.
~~~
Day 8- Rome again.
as it turns out, Ali and Alicia had all the teachers sitting in their room yelling at the font desk, who did nothing. so the teacers ended up switching places with them.
We had a concert today at the American Overseas School of Rome and it was really cool to be able to speak english and get good english back. it was a good concert.
we then went back to teh hotel to change adn then to the colosseum. we went inside and it was SO COOL. it was like sitting in the latin text book.
we then had lunch and went walking once again. we saw all these different forms. Agustus' and Trajans Etc.
Catherine got her luggage back(finally)
Played a little ultimate, and then more snatch.
~~~
Day 9- Rome and the Vatican
we got a bag breakfast-yuck
went to the Vatican to see the sistine Chapel and St Mark's (the biggest church in the world)
we got there on public transit which was an adventure within itself.
we saw all these statues in the Vatican, and the Rapael Rooms, and on to the Sistine Chapel, which was really pretty. It was SO COOL.
then we went to St Marks and ther was a statue that everyone touched to foot of. it was really cool. there were all these markings on the floor of where other churches would come to if they were fit into St. Mark's. it was really cool.
then lunch, and cheap fanta (brought one home).
then we got to shop again.
then we went to the Panteon where Michelangelo is buried.
then the Trevi fountain where i sang happy birthday to Arlene in italian. and Carolyn got a coin thrown on her by some ppl throwing coins over their shoulder becuase it supposedly means that you will return to Italy.
Dinner at La Cabana (as opposed to Nuestra Cabana...lol Mexico).
